Most of us have been used to YouTube’s low quality videos. But lately, YouTube has been creating better quality versions of many(not all) videos. If available, the video page would display “Watch in high quality.” at the bottom right corner of the video. Simply click the link at the bottom right and watch the high quality (HQ)version of that video. If you don’t see a link, it means there’s no HQ version of the video.

A codec is software that is used to compress or decompress a digital media file, such as a song or video. When you play a digital media file, Windows Media Player uses a codec to decompress the file. Codecs are used to create and play nearly all music or video files on your computer or on web sites.
In other words, you don’t need to install different players for different formats on your computer. But some people prefer a different player other than Windows Media Player for their interface features and functionalities. Whatever your player is, you can use that player to play any video and audio formats as long as you have to right codecs.

Hey, did you know you can use Google to search for Mp3 files instead of using P2P file sharing applications? You can directly download mp3 files directly from website’s directories using your browser. It’s easy.
Let’s say you want to download an MP3 file entitled Canon by Pachelbel for example. Just go to Google and search for
"intitle:index of" pachelbel canon mp3
like the one shown below. Make sure you enclose “intitle:index of” in quotation marks and specify the keyword “mp3″. (Yeah you can use this trick to search for other file types too!)

Google search result
Now let’s click the first result for example. You will get a page like the one shown below.

Sample directory of files
Now all you have to do is to
right-click the file you’ve choosen and select
Save Link As… in Firefox or
Save Target As… if you’re still using Internet Explorer and your browser will automatically download the file. That’s it!
Explanation why you are able to browse through website directories
The results that Google displays are directories or folders from different websites. The reason why you are able to browse a website’s directory is because the website developer did not put an index file (i.e. index.php, index.htm, etc…) in the directory. Directories without an index file shows “Index of” on the page’s title. In addition, web developers should tell the search engines NOT to crawl (search) those folders.

mIRC is a popular Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client used by millions of people and organizations. Basically you use this application as a chat utility but it has an integrated scripting language that makes it extensible and versatile. That’s why this application can also be used as a P2P file-sharing client application. Meaning, you can copy files shared by other users and vise versa.
In addition to being a P2P client, there is a script called Autoget from OmenScripts which helps you easily find and manage your downloads . This script is a plug-in or add-on for mIRC. Without this script, you’re going to have a hard time finding and downloading files.
Setting up mIRC and Autoget is a simple but a bit long process. That’s why I’m going to provide step by step instructions and screen shots to help you get started. Here is a list of what we will do:
- Download and install mIRC.
- Download and install Autoget script for mIRC.
- Configure mIRC.
- Configure Autoget.
- Find and download files
