If you formatted your USB and the autorun.inf is “still” (actually it came back) there. It means the PC you are using is infected. The virus recreated the autorun.inf file after formatting your USB drive. You better clean your PC with COMBOFIX. Check this link:

On the other hand, if you dont want to clean your PC and you simply want to remove the autorun.inf file. You have to:
1) remove the “system” attribute of the autorun.inf file
2) delete the autorun.inf file
3) create an autorun.inf folder
sequentially and very QUICKLY as the virus will recreate the autorun.inf file if you do this slowly. The solution is to create a batch file. Follow the ff. procedure:

1) Create a text file with a .BAT extension, you can use any filaname
2) Type the following, assuming your USB drive is E:

E:
attrib autorun.inf -r -h -s
del autorun.inf
md autorun.inf

3) Save and execute the file.

for this question “Why can’t I create a folder named “autorun.inf”? ”
your answer havent completed, can you please explain to me what to do to remove the autorun.inf file since it already created on my USB flash disc.
I have did format my USB flash disc and the autorun.inf still there, how to remove it.

The virus infecting your computer has probably hidden the autorun.inf folder. When you “show hidden files,” the virus probably switched it back to “do not show hidden files” that’s why Windows still can’t see it. In the DOS prompt, try typing “DIR/AH” to see the hidden files. To remove the Hidden/system/read-only attribute, type “ATTRIB -r -h -s autorun.inf”.

I have followed the steps n hv created the folder “autorun.inf”, inclding “con” in the folder. However, I found a situation here. A virus still infect my USB drive. Although it can’t create an autorun.inf file in my USB drive, it changes my folder to “autorun.inf.scr”. AVG scan n found it and I moved the autorun.inf.scr to vault. Now, I can’t see my autorun.inf folder anymore, even if I enable “Show hidden files”. Windows system just can’t read the folder anymore. However, in DOS (Run>cmd), there is still a folder name “autorun.inf” in my USB becoz I can’t use “md autorun.inf”. However, using command “dir/w” will not show it also. No matter how, in an experiment, I found that although the Windows can’t see the “autorun.inf” folder, the virus still can’t create “autorun.inf” file anymore in my USB drive. This is strange to me. Could u help to explain?

This is cool and really useful. I have tried it myself and it works. Useful for me as my computer has been infected by virus for twice, all through USB drive. Pressing “Shift” while opening the drive doesn’t help to prevent the virus from infecting my computer. But this disabling “AUTORUN” is good. Thanks.
