I was using PC Tools Free version lately and it was nice. It’s fast and doesn’t show annoying pop-ups and ads. But recently it started to slow down my system and caused high peaks on my CPU usage so I uninstalled it.

I searched for another free antivirus and tried to download BitDefender’s free edition antivirus. When I was about to download, I realized that it’s not really free because it would ask you to purchase a product from a sponsor. Now that really sucks! I hate it when companies trick you into wasting your time. They should have mentioned “Get BitDefender for Free if you purchase product from our sponsors” in the first place. Crap!

Most of us have been using Adobe’s Acrobat Reader for a long time. What have you noticed? Before, you’ve had to download a huge installer file, wait for an annoying splash window to disappear when you open a document and the application itself has a slow response.

I came across this neat FREE software from Foxit called Foxit Reader. It’s incredibly small (about 2.5Mb), fast, has a text converter and also has high security and privacy, and more. I’ve already tried it and it’s nice. It has all the features that you need from Adobe’s version.

mIRC is a popular Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client used by millions of people and organizations. Basically you use this application as a chat utility but it has an integrated scripting language that makes it extensible and versatile. That’s why this application can also be used as a P2P file-sharing client application. Meaning, you can copy files shared by other users and vise versa.

In addition to being a P2P client, there is a script called Autoget from OmenScripts which helps you easily find and manage your downloads . This script is a plug-in or add-on for mIRC. Without this script, you’re going to have a hard time finding and downloading files.

Setting up mIRC and Autoget is a simple but a bit long process. That’s why I’m going to provide step by step instructions and screen shots to help you get started. Here is a list of what we will do:

1. Download and install mIRC.
2. Download and install Autoget script for mIRC.
3. Configure mIRC.
4. Configure Autoget.
5. Find and download files
